Combining robots with one of Canada's favourite sports

Undergraduate students in Engineering Science Professor Dr. Shahram Payandeh's class build robots that can battle it out in air hockey.

Designing and developing tiny robots, which are controlled and coordinated to accomplish a common objective as a team is one of Dr. Payandeh's projects. These small robots move on an air-hockey table that is monitored through an overhead camera. They are controlled via wireless communication and each robot has a shooting mechanism which is able to hit a small hockey puck on the table.
