NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (Research Assistant)
An exciting opportunity awaits SFU undergraduate Engineering Science students. NSERC Research Assistant positions give you a summer job working with Engineering Science faculty on real research. These positions are sponsored by NSERC, a Federal Government agency that supports university students in the pursuit of discovery research while fostering innovation. By participating in NSERC you will be part of a growing number of researchers that are on the vanguard of science, building on Canada’s long tradition of scientific excellence.
Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are meant to stimulate your interest in research in the natural sciences and engineering. They allow you to experience what graduate research is really like and to encourage you to pursue a research career in these fields. If you would like to gain research work experience that complements your studies in an academic setting, these awards can provide you with a funded position in SFU Engineering Science. Furthermore, these positions give you real advantages for future awards: in past years 70% of USRA students have used that research experience to gain the highly regarded NSERC Graduate Awards that pay for their graduate education.
